My name is Justina Bigelow, I grew up in Nigeria, on the continent of Africa. I currently live in Philadelphia, PA with my husband, Herbert Bigelow and my daughter, Amarachi. I hold a Master’s Degree of Education in Early Childhood and Special Education from Lincoln University. I am a Pennsylvania certified elementary education teacher, and I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Early Childhood Leadership and Advocacy with Walden University. After 5+ years in the education field, I realized that I have a passion for improving reading skills with my students.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, my daughter, Amarachi, and I authored a book entitled, During the Pandemic: My Alphabet Book. It is a simple alphabet book written to help young readers develop their understanding of the alphabetic principle and explore alphabet letters and sounds.
AboutBook
In 2020, the whole world was hit by a pandemic called COVID-19. COVID-19 is caused by a coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2, which usually causes an upper respiratory tract illness that may lead to death. It is contagious, so we were forced to quarantine for safety. Since my daughter and I were home with nowhere to go for over a year, we decided to write this alphabet book to share with you what we did during the pandemic of 2020 - 2021.
The more that you read, the more things you will know, the more that you learn, the more places you'll go.
Hello! My name is Amarachi Pearl Bigelow. I was born and raised in Philadelphia. I am currently in middle school. I enjoy drawing, painting, and playing the ukulele. I live in Philadelphia with my father, Herbert Bigelow, and mother, Justina Bigelow. Writing a book together with my mother was a fun thing to do. And I believe every early reader will enjoy the vibrant and creative illustrations. I hope to author many more books someday.
